Cosmic Flyswatter strikes again.
Ted Greene, the antithesis of a rock star guitarist (think the anti- Keith Richards
) died in L.A. Heart attack is the suspected cause. Greene’s guitar genius was holistic
; he could play from jazz to Bach, and had a gift for transcribing arrangements for the guitar. He lived simply. Isn’t it interesting that his obituary mentions as one of the criteria for a simple life, not having an answering machine. We’ve linked below to his only solo album as well as books he wrote on guitar theory. Here’s a link to a photo of Greene
. Looks like he liked Fender
.
We ODDones are a bit buried which we assure you relates to work, and is not a metaphorical riff about our preoccupation with quietus
. We’re preparing a talk on revival of the Chautauqua movement
. Honest. And we don’t know nothin’ about the Chautauqua movement other than it burned brightly and burned out except for three places in the U.S., one of which is in deepest darkest Boulder, Colorado
, another in up-state New York
, and the other in (drum roll) Ohio
. Honest x 2. Okay, but this does give us an idea for today’s ODDassociation. The Pretender’s classic
“Back to Ohio” has a memorable guitar line
. Rush Limbaugh
loops it as his bumper music, which must give Chrissie Hynde
no end of dyspepsia
. Both Limbaugh and Hynde have a common love of animals. Hynde is active in PETA
; Limbaugh finds them tasty.
I went back to ohio
But my pretty countryside
Had been paved down the middle
By a government that had no pride
The farms of ohio
Had been replaced by shopping malls
And muzak filled the air
From seneca to cuyahoga falls
Said, a, o, oh way to go ohio
Please keep the feeding tube in a bit longer.
