Stop Clowning Around
The NY Times reports by way of the Associated Press that Emmett Kelly, Jr passed away. Young Mr. Kelly followed his father Emmett Lee Kelly aka “Weary Willie” into the clown business. The Times reports that “In 1960, with the makeup and blessing of his father, Mr. Kelly made his clown debut at the Circus Festival in Peru, Ind. Four years later, Eastman Kodak signed him to appear at the New York World’s Fair.” Kelly died at age 83 at his home near that famous Arizona resting place of Tombstone, aka “The Town too Tough to Die”.
Now somewhere in our ODDly short-circuited memory lies images of one Hobo and one Kelly of a different sort in Hobo Kelly who had her own LA-area TV show in the late 1960s and early 70s. Thanks to the article from TV Acres we found out that Sally Baker (aka Hobo Kelly) believed that “children need to be taught consequences”. Can I get an AMEN?
And this just in…Lindsay Lohan seeks help for her alcoholism. Mayhaps Lindsay, Mel Gibson and Courtney Love could open a clinic together? Ménage à Trois anyone?
